Amity Foundation Students and Faculty Participate in TimeDone Day
On Wednesday, August 10th, faculty from the Amity Foundation visited the State Capitol in Sacramento for TimeDone Day. The event was sponsored by TimeDone which is a program of Alliance for Safety and Justice, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
TimeDone Day is a momentous event that sheds light on the many barriers that people with criminal convictions face in California and the pressing need for reform and economic mobility.
Along with their local and national partners, TimeDone shared economic empowerment resources with individuals living with old convictions at this event. The event was centered around art, music, food, legislative advocacy, and much more.
Timedone is a diverse national network of 70,000 members with chapters in 4 key regions across California (Southern CA, Bay Area, Central Valley, and Northern CA) that support the engagement, mobilization, and training of our members.
In addition to TimeDone day on August 10th, the group hosted a Legislative Advocacy training which educated attendees on their TimeDone justice bills and how policy works in the CA legislature.
CEO of Amity Foundation, Doug Bond, wanted to express thanks and support for this initiative: “Thank you for representing Amity Foundation in Sacramento today in an effort to show support for the Time Done campaign. Please express my gratitude to those who took time to attend this event. This is part of a National movement we are working collaboratively on with community based partners on to reduce and eliminate the nearly 40,000 barriers for people who have been incarcerated face. We are extremely grateful for our communities continued advocacy to support our mission.”
